I indulged in a bit of casual "speed" clocking last night.. Basically I cranked the vcore on my x2 3800 up to 1.42, sorted the ht and cpu multis, dropped the memory divider and upped the fsb to 250.
This chip has done 3ghz in a shuttle so I know it can take it..
Anyway, it boots into windows fine, temps ok etc.. so I start to push it with clockgen.. Generally I find this a quick way of finding limits.. set it to where I know will be stable then clockgen it until it crashes/freezes and then try getting mem and core volts to stabilise that clock.
Anyway, this time it died at 2.75ghz which seemed about right, like I said its been further with a worse mobo/ram/psu collection.
I rebooted and got no video so I figured a cmos clear would do it, cleared it.. nothing.. took the battery out and left it out for 10.. nothing.. left the battery out overnight... nothing.. tried another gfx card.. nothing.
I can hear it booting, I can hear it say "cpu fan fail" as I have the hsf plugged into a fan controller, i press enter and canhear it grinding away as it boots, I can then hear the windows "tune" when it goes into windows.. just with nothing on the screen.
Any ideas?
