If the other car was pretty smashed up as stated, chances are theres a lot more damage underneath that 3mm thick bumper skin than you can see.

The car would need to be checked properly you cant assume that it is just paint damage the rear bumper reinforcement bar could be bent and thus moved the boot floor and has squashed the wheel well making it unable to remove the spare wheel. This wouuldnt then be able to withstand another impact safely and efficiently.

Clips could be broken mounting points broken. The damage on the surface looks minimal but as the car has shockwaves and crumple zones

Hope your car gets fixed asap to pre accident condition.

Cheers. To be honest I've not even opened the boot yet. Just changed details, took some pics then drove home and rang my insurer. Accident repair place are picking it up a week today and courtesy car is being dropped off Thursday night.

Just hope they don't write it off for whatever reason as I imagine I'd be left out of pocket having just spent £360 on fixing it.

it's worth what 2000-2500? if the boot floor is bent - and plastic bumpers can hide the damage really well then it might be.. :o

To be honest I thought it's worth less than a grand, it's got 125k on it! I paid £3k from a trader about 18 months ago with 90 something k on it.

Not trying to put the frightners on you just years in the trade makes you realise visual damage doesnt mean a lot it ls usually whats moved underneath that you got to watcg for.

All four wheels have been top coated and lacquered -

Quite pleased with them although the picture doesn't show how shiny they are -- It's the closest I could get to Ford metallic silver.

I can barely make out any damage on the pic LOL. I had similar damage on my Ibiza, half an hour with T cut and some polishing and it had gone.

Bumpers for Focuss'es are ten a penny tbh and I didn't see any noise mentioned?

I'd have sorted that outside of insurance to help both the person at fault and my premiums going up, after all more likely to have an accident now aren't I?

Put the battery back on my wife's KA after charging it for a few days, the thing has not moved in four months. It's shameful driving the darn thing.

Could sell it and buy a new z270 board n chip, hang on, just a board. No wait maybe a new SSD . ohhh yes, Ford KA, get a tube of thermal paste for it.

You can't make out any damage from a small photo taken at night of a dirty car? I'm not surprised.

I'd assume his bumper is now scuffed and scratched, requiring painting in order to be restored to its former glory. And since it's his car and someone else damaged it, why shouldn't he be entitled to this?

The person may not have wanted to settle outside of insurance. The person who crashed into my girlfriend's car (and caused equally fairly-superficial damage) a while back didn't want to when we gave a quote for it to be sorted (oh my husband's mate's dog can fix that for £50 lolz etc), so we went through insurance, it was all sorted nice and efficiently with my girlfriend having a courtesy car for a few days and they will probably end up paying more in increased premiums as a result.

Tbh I don't care what someone on the internet thinks I should or shouldn't do.

Last time someone went into the back of me and it didn't look bad, I agreed to do it outside of insurance and I got shafted.

The guy never mentioned it either, nor was I keen on a discussion stood at the side of the M4 in traffic. We just traded details and I went on my way. He rang me later to correct the policy number he had given me as he had just renewed and gave me last years at the scene. No idea if his car was movable or not but the headlights were no longer in their mounts and there were bits of metal from his car on the ground.

Yep. This happened to my friend recently. A relatively minor bump with some damage on the door. Would've been cheaper to fix outside of insurance but the person who caused it wasn't interested; gave his business card and said call his company it's s company car.

Its hassle though sorting it outside of insurance and then how can you know after money has changed hands they wont report it anyway its a lot of trust for a stranger who has run into you or vice versa.

At the roadside i always gather as much evidence as possible and do the askmid search to see if the 3rd parties car is insured. In this day and age its better to cover all the bases.

As for my car ordered all new powerflex bushes which are going to be a subframe off job.
