What have you done to your car today?

Gave the new S2000 a decent service and a quick clean, has come up alright :D Just need to shift on the Z4 now.

Airport parking is so awful, it's so hard to find reasonably priced options where you keep your keys

+1

Luton airport's official medium and long term car parks were reasonably priced in 2015, but last year they really hiked the prices up to pay for all of the refurbishment work that's currently going on.

Got to work this morning and realised some inconsiderate **** has clipped the rear bumper when pulling out from behind, or pulling in from the side outside my house. Deep scratches that'll definitely need new paint.

Even more annoyingly, whoever did it then tried to cover their tracks by applying what I'd guess is T-Cut to remove their own paint from the car as there's a clean patch on the otherwise dirty car.

Can't imagine why you'd leave it with these people in the first place, myself.

Tempted by the offer they had recently, basically half price, and cheaper than long stay. I have parked in airports over 200 times, and never used meet and greet before. Always used long stay and got the bus transfer.

I have shown the footage to my mrs, and she says it's a bit freaky.. I am now considering sending it to the company. I just keep asking myself, why did he spend the best part of 3 minutes going through my car so carefully.

Someone else might not have cleared the car as well as me, and had something stolen.

This was the offical parking for the airport, not a third party like purple.

There was nothing of any value in the car. (snacks/pens/etc)

That's even worse! I'd be inclined to just speak to management at the airport making sure to note that you know this as you observed the camera footage and heard them rummaging.

I can't think of a single valid reason for them to go through your stuff other than looking for something to nick, sunglasses, fuel cards and the like.

The price of airport parking is quite ridiculous as it is, but at least there;'s some savings through TCB/QuidCo.

After waking up to this a few times:

I Wimped out and fitted the hardtop for a few weeks!

(This is it last year with the hardtop on, it looks pretty much the same, bar 15mm higher this year)

The interior/map lights and rear heated window all work perfectly and I finally got around to fitting the hardtop LED bulb kit I bought from M3C.. the way it attaches is quite well engineered, just removing the plastic covers that the retaining pins lock into was a bit of a faff.

A few people say they quite like the look of it with the hardtop on, and whilst a bit different, it does at least remove all squeaks from the soft-top!

And new wing mirror glass is on it's way, the drivers side is showing signs of aging with the vertical line having started oxidising..

Probably because of the absolutely massive faff it is to take it off and put it on each time. And even with the vertical carrier you can buy, it still requires lots of storage space. It's a two-man job for sure.

I do miss how mine looked with the hardtop, but do not miss the pain of getting it on and off the car :p

Yeah, it feels a faff, although in reality it takes 5 mins to get it off, put it on the trolley, wheel it to the back of the garage and lift it through the door (mine is stored in the utility room at the back of the garage). It takes longer to get my neighbour and have the usual chat about 'stuff' as it's too much of a stretch for the Mrs.

Imagine if they did a folding hard top e46 vert, best of both worlds. ..

I sold mine on cutters within 45 minutes of buying the car :p

Have I become ultra de-sensitised to comfort from driving old Jap cars, or am I the only one that finds driving a convertible in the winter to be a complete non-issue?

Perhaps it's because the cabin is smaller in a two seater (and thus easier to heat), but I don't particularly notice any discomfort at all between getting in the MX5, the Evo or my wife's Mazda 3.

I genuinely wouldn't even remotely consider getting a hard top.

I don't really see the problem either, aside from the fact that its a bit colder inside until its warmed up for the first time. I was looking for a hard top for a while, but it was purely for aesthetic reasons.

taken it back to the mot centre, they did some work mainly EGR valve and passed it last week, and since then its had no power, I'm being out accelerated by pick up trucks, i hope this is a decent and fair garage as i really don't have the money to play silly buggers with them at the moment.

I've had the roof down most days (today included at -2 and foggy :p). Once the heated seats come on and the heating is blaring I'm really warm. I haven't seen a single other person with their roof down

Only reason I've considered a hard top is as an extra safety measure for track days. Hard top + G fabrications roll bar should mean even if the worst happens my noggin is fairly protected
