Since we have a poor PvPless rendition of Lord of the Rings that is clearly out.

For a fantasy of politics, magic and war for me it would HAVE to be Raymond E Feist - Magician. Possibly just called "RiftWar". You have the indepth politics, the land the races, the kingdoms and empires and even different worlds! Running close second for a fantasy setting would be Robert Jordans Wheel of Time.

Sci-Fi setting would be David Weber's - Honor Harrington, although Eve is VERY close to this.... there is just something missing from Eve that makes it too boring. Since Star Wars is done and dusted and Star Trek is in the making as is StarGate, there are not many other options.

Whats other peoples ideas for IP for MMO's?

I wonder if you could get a working Alien VS Predator MMO :p

Have to complete Missions as a ickle face hugger....

Right there, that would be my choice. It would need a hell of a lot of thought to implement it successfully though, starting with at which time period should it be set?

Well we dont know how it ends yet, final book still being written and all. Might have to be right back during the first Dragon era. Or in whatever setting Bobbie Jordan leaves it in after the final book. Either way I dont think it could work while all males go nuts if they start channelling.

Just to dig up my own old thread, I actually got a reply from Raymond E Feist himself

MMORPG. Like films and TV, game companies are always asking questions and making suggestions. I can never talk about on-going negotiations, so until you hear a formal announcement on anything relating to an on-line game, assume that I'm yakin' with a lot of different people and that at any time, anything is possible. We talked a lot of companies, for example, before making our first deal with Dynamix for Betrayal at Krondor, and the same held true before we cut a deal with 7th Level for Return. It was really a business fluke that had both companies end up with Sierra when the dust settled. Just like we waited a long time before cutting a comic book deal, and now Marvel/Dabel Brothers are just killing with their adaptation. Sales are far exceeding expectations and we hope to see this relationship go on for a very long time.

Best, R.E.F.
