What is a good mid-range home projector?

For the first time I saw one of those home projector’s in use when I was at a friends house, it was actually the kids who got one for Christmas which was a budget projector which only cost £35, yet strangely enough the picture quality wasn’t that bad at all. Now I’ve not seen any other home projector’s but from seeing that one, I’d consider spending £500-£700, for a projector that the general consensus of opinion is the best option.

What I did like about the £35 projector that I saw was that you could turn the lens to beam it’s picture anywhere; floor, wall or ceiling. It was small enough to carry around.

What I didn’t like when playing with it was the OS was painfully sluggish to navigate (to be expected for £35 I guess). It didn’t seem to be able to pair to an Echo speaker via Bluetooth. Only a few apps with no noticeable option to download apps like Plex.

Do some projectors allow for downloading apps or side loading apps, or do they allow for a device like a Firestick to be plugged in using the HDMI port and the USB port for power?

Can some projectors work well in the daytime showing a clear picture?

What would be a good projector to consider? Ideally I wouldn’t want a big device that doesn’t offer much in the way of portability and flexibility, so being unable to beam on both wall and ceiling by angling the lens & not small enough to put in a rucksack.

Should I be considering only 4K projectors, or is there something else that I need to always consider before buying?

Any recommendations for projectors if anyone uses them?

Also interested in this. I want a cheap but reasonable projector. Are any of the Phillips ones any good? I like the ones that auto adjust the angles of the projection so you don't need the projector centered.

While i've been browsing online and watching various different YouTube videos and comparisons, I can across a few videos about a projector by Valerion called VisionMaster, it looks damn impressive, and they have a VisionMaster Max coming out in May. But back to a reasonable price projector, there're a few that do keystoning.

I've been suffering and the algorithm seems to have noticed I don't enjoy watching movies on my pc these days. Only 32" monitor, which is massive compared to the crt tv's I grew up with. I don't fancy a 55" screen on a wall, or table, so a projector seems an option with the prices I've seen. I'd be happy if I spent sub £200 as it'll not be used for gaming, just for movies, and maybe the odd series binge. I'm fine with watching movies in 1080P if the image quality is great, so I'm assuming there are outdated, by the 4k units, 1080P units to be had for a reasonable price? Brand new old stock kinda stuff?

BENQ W1800 but they are about £950+ or near there but worth the extra for movies.

I have had several projectors and for home Cinema I prefer projectors that have a color wheel that does not have any clear / white light sections in it at all.

So basically an RGBRGB color wheel instead of something like RGBWRGBW color wheel.

The W sections do make a projector brighter but in my view the overall look of the image and colors is worse.

That was my experience anyway.
