What is Sli and Tri sli?

Also, it's main use is gaming. But adding a second card doesn't double your fps, you'd have to double your other hardware as well.

oh yes it does, play farcry 2 on ultra high ant aliasing full res 1920 and you will get 30-40 fps,add a second gpu and it is a constant 60fps....i know as i have the setup to confirm this....tri sli is overkill(unless u love crysis, u need tri sli for constant 60fps)but 2xsli is a must;)

the scaling for 2 gpus is about 100/90.....for the 3 gpus i think its about 100/90/50..hence your only getting 50% use of the third gpu....unless the scalibility improves tri sli is not worth it at the moment i think especially for the price of gpus today, they are quite expensive

I'd have been too embarassed to post this question without doing a quick search that only a test-lab chimp would have difficulty performing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Link_Interface :p

I dunno, those test lab chimps are mighty clever!

Well isnt that the point of this place, to ask questions? To be fair most of the things people do ask on here can be found on google.

There are questions, and then there are questions...

Before posting at least do some cursory research for yourself instead of expecting others to take their time writing out EASILY searchable info for you. It's basic forum netiquette. :)

Totally with you on this one dude. Some people get so up their own arses about stuff like this.

If you don't want to answer the lads questions then don't bother answering FFS !

Well I wont ask another question, Ill just sit back and watch you lot answering questions that no one knows the answer to! because if someone knows the answer it will already be on the internet.

No-ones up there own arses, its just that when you have spent years on forums spending valuable time trying to help people, you start to notice things like this and try to provide a bit of guidance. Yes, no-one likes being told that their question is stupid and could be searched for in 1 second, but that's life... and maybe he'll make a bit more effort in future to do a little research first.

Thats a bit of a weak argument your question was a bit like asking "Whats a CPU" or "Whats overclocking" and then expecting to sit back and have others get the info for you instead of spending 3 seconds doing a bit of reading yourself. Fair enough if the question is one that we can help with and provide a bit of guidance, but forums are not there for people who spend time helping/advising others to be used as your own personal Google tool. Just make a bit of effort before posting a thread, help works both ways. :)

Richdog - Sorry fella I didn't intend that to be a shot at you.

I can see from your response that you know what I was meaning in my badly worded, getting drunk kind of keyboard warrior sort of way

Thats a rubbish argument and you know it. Well for one thing I wont be having you telling me what I can and cannot do.

Chill guys. Don't get so worked up over it. Sure, it would have been easier to search for it, but it would also have been easier not to reply to this thread. He asked a question, it got answered, simple as.
