Anyone know?

I heard that it's some kind of CV work down at the gym, maybe involving bikes?

Apparently, Spinning is also trademarked, why's that?

Anyone.............?

(Never done it myself but I think this is correct...) It's an instructor led class where you use special bikes which have a lever to adjust the tension/resistance which makes it harder/easier to cycle. Usually done to music, it's a good cardio workout where you control how hard to have to work although the instructor makes you different routines (cycle standing/sitting down) which can make it harder or easier.

So it's just the same as getting on a bike with an iPod and the tracklist set to 'random'? :D

:D pretty much, but it has one decent point in that you can stop at any time during a session and do something else whereas on a bike you've got to cycle home :).

Simple answer, spinning hurts..

used to do it years ago when I was about 17 and not too fit. Used to come out of the class looking like somebody had litterally thrown a bucket of red paint over my face and was drenched in sweat from head to toe..

It was my third lesson when I discovered how to use the tension spring thing on the bikes.. before that, it was on high. This equals pain. Dam me for starting on intermediate classes!! And dam my 'mates' for not sharing the knowledge!!

I've never done a spinning session before but because the resistance of the bike and the workrate is varied at various times during the workout, it hammers your heart and lungs and also your lower body.

If you think about your heart rate being elevated as your muscles scream for more oxygen, and this elevated heartrate is sustained for a period of time, then for another period of time you are able to recover a bit.

Its interval training pretty much.

Spinning is rubbish.
IT was a big fad a couple of years ago, the missus bet me i would be "knackered" and "wouldnt hack it" and bet me to go with her and her mates one week so they could show me how hard it was compared to playing football and martial arts practise.
Yeah, you got a bit of a sweat on, and the guy taking the class kept wondering over and cranking the resistance up on my machine to try and slow me down, but its just a fancy excersise bike and was nothing compared to playing the sport of the gods, or indeed sparing with some fat postman.
Actually riding a bike is more exhausting and more fun.
