I ordered a 32 inch 1440p 165hz monitor last night in a black Friday deal to sit on my computer desk.

I play 1st and 3rd person shooters mostly.

However, I started reading discussions about people saying 32 inch is too big for shooters because you can get shot at by enemies while you're looking at a different part of the screen. Is 32 really that big compared with a 27?

I've now cancelled my order so I can have more time to think.

Really depends on how far you will be sitting from your desk? Some people may think 32 is too big for 1440p but I think it's a good size and you can adjust the field of view in games to make it better suited to your taste

I've currently got a 32"

It does feel massive when you first get it. But you get accustomed to it over time. People who have bought the LG 48" OLED TV to use as a monitor have said the same thing. I play first person shooters on it no problem. Get that sucker ordered again before you miss out on the back friday deals.

You generally find people who are criticising particular sizes or aspects of monitors have never actually tried them and they are just stating their fears not their experience. And the even bigger problem is that monitors are a very personal choice. I don't mind a lower pixel density so a 32" would be great with me. In fact had they even existed last time I bought a 27" I would have gone for one. At 27" the pixel density is too high for me. I used Windows Scaling to increase the size of everything or the tiny text just makes my eyes ache. I would much prefer a screen that has a pixel density that is about 20% less, oh and guess what?, that's about a 32" screen!

I have been using a 34" UW for the last few months and had a 32" and 27" previous to that. The UW got replaced as was faulty and the replacement was DOA so I am now back to the 32" as my main until its sorted.

When I went from 27" to 32" it took a bit of getting used to as it is definitely a fair bit bigger, however after a few days I was totally used to it. Then I went UW and I absolutely loved the aspect ratio but again there was an adjustment period. Now I am back to the 32" and again it really did take a few hours to get used to it again as the UW is basically the same height as a standard 27" 16:9 monitor and the 32" 16:9 is a fair bit taller top to bottom. There is no doubt that there would be an adjustment period but from personal experience its relatively easy to adjust and unless you are playing competitively then I really wouldn't see it as an issue.

It's like any new tech you buy, at first it seems ridiculously out of place then it just becomes the norm. My 65" telly, which once seemed like being at the cinema now feels like I'm watching a 14" portable from the 80s :)
