C:\Documents and Settings\administrator\Local Settings\Temp

after clicking on the 'administrator' folder i had to go to folder options and 'display hiden folders' to view the 'local settings' folder and the same for the 'Temp' folder. can anyone help me out here:

i recentley opened an email (from a friend, so nothing out the ordinary) was virus checked etc, as always! i opened an attachmnet that opened fine (just a norm size picture from sony erricson).....

now im using firefox and when you download anything it will download 1st into a download box (seperate tab from the rest) in here is everything you have downloaded, and gives a small prieview of the file or pic. now when i downloaded the pic in question, the prieview in the 'download box' was of an old pic i took like 3 or so years ago! right clicked the prieview pic and clicked 'open containing folder'. this was how i found were the pic was being stored on the comp....

i hope it sounds more complex than it is! can anyone tell me what went on here and the purpose of this folder.

thanks.

ok thanks for that doggs but still would like to know how a 3 year old picture ended up in the download box in firefox...anyone. cheers

Quite a lot can happen to a computer in 3 years and it is very easy to forget some little thing you did in that 3 years.

Firefox and other apps save data in all sorts of places and browsers especially have caches - which are pics/sites you have visited. It is possible you viewed the pic in Firefox at some stage or even downloaded it and it has been lurking in a temp folder ever since.

thanks for the info, will look in to those.

so the pic that appeared in the download box was just a random pic from the 'temp' folder' then? just to clarify. you recon it to be a one off glitch on the OS then?

Not sure what your question is really..

Won't be a "one off glitch", the file is just still on your machine, not sure quite where you mean though.

Just run ccleaner slim (beware it'll make IE/firefox 'forget' passwords unless you tell it not to do that)

lol i will look into the software and im sure it will clear everything out but still doesnt answer the question:

i will try to simplify it bets i can..really bugging me now this lol

i download a pic of a laptop that sony erricson was offering via an email from my friend. on opening this file, as when dowloading anything through firfox a seperate 'downloads' box appears. in this box should have been a little prieview of the sony erricson promotion pic. but it was of a pic i took years ago. on double clicking this icon the sony erricson promotion was displayed! wired but would really like to know what went on there.

never done it before, never done it since.

lol the years old pic was simply of a car....point being it was my picture! not a pic that some one sent me.

am i makin sense?! hope so?!

No need to 'look into' the software, just install ccleaner slim and you're off, it'll take 20 seconds to download and install it :p
