Dude, just because it's used in a cinema doesn't make it on par with a LCD TV, it's out of convenience, don't see many 200"+ LCD panels around and they won't be cheapdaz said:Dude, DLP front projection is used in digitally equipped theatres... DLP rear projection uses the same technology. DLP tends to give better blacks (contrast ratio) than LCD for a start.

The limit is the environment the equipment is used in with projection equipment.james.miller said:ive never seen a cinema screen with an impressive black performance.

I'm just basing my opinion on when we had this same tv in the window of the shop I have a Saturday job at. The darker it got the better the screen looked. The lighter and brighter it got, comparing it to an LCD sat right next to it, the worse the screen looked; all washed out etc. Eventually, after so many customers had commented on the picture difference between that and the LCD next to it (which I think was an Sony IIRC), the Samsung was moved to a dark spot at the back of the store...DreXeL said:Sorry, but that's absolute crap
DLP's aren't like the rear projectors of old. I can assure you this set gives a fantastic picture even on a very bright day.
