i know most people are quite anti rear pro's but i have to say the quality can be quite amazing, especially with HD material.. .

(no, i dont have this TV.. I have the sony)

No doubt it's good but a LCD will be better just to put it simply, if you demand the best image.
Shame though, its in the right price range massive sive and a very nice case, not a fan of the stand though.

but for value for money these are great...

compared to a 50" LCD (will be very expensive)

and i agree, i dont like the stand and you cant take it away . .

Dude, DLP front projection is used in digitally equipped theatres... DLP rear projection uses the same technology. DLP tends to give better blacks (contrast ratio) than LCD for a start.

Dude, just because it's used in a cinema doesn't make it on par with a LCD TV, it's out of convenience, don't see many 200"+ LCD panels around and they won't be cheap :D

No, it's because LCD technology is inferior.

Otherwise they'd use LCD projectors instead of DLP.

I dont know how you can say the contrast ratio is better,

From what i've seen in shops, plasmas and LCDS rape these big things, hands behind back. They look ugly and picture quality is worse than CRT, I suppose it would be ok in a dark room but for normal usage, you can barely see the picture on it

ive never seen a cinema screen with an impressive black performance.
The limit is the environment the equipment is used in with projection equipment.

I rate these Samsung DLP's quite highly, installed Sky on one just yesterday and they are cracking for the money. You need the right room to use one in though.

Certainly nothing wrong with the Samsung DLP's, I bought mine a year ago for about £1200 and back then that was a bargain ;)

Can't remember the last time I saw a 50" CRT! in fact if you could get a 50" CRT I would imagine the picture would be cracking :p

If you're watching it in a dark room with all the curtains shut it will look great. If you're watching it in a light bright living room in the middle of a hot summer day with the sun shining on it - it wont look so great.

I have one of these, and it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. The image quality is incredible, better than most Plasmas and LCDs I've seen.
Here's my thread about it.

Sorry, but that's absolute crap :)

DLP's aren't like the rear projectors of old. I can assure you this set gives a fantastic picture even on a very bright day.

I'm just basing my opinion on when we had this same tv in the window of the shop I have a Saturday job at. The darker it got the better the screen looked. The lighter and brighter it got, comparing it to an LCD sat right next to it, the worse the screen looked; all washed out etc. Eventually, after so many customers had commented on the picture difference between that and the LCD next to it (which I think was an Sony IIRC), the Samsung was moved to a dark spot at the back of the store...
