What is wrong with my TV? (Technical)

So I have a bedroom TV. It's nothing flash but it does the job and I've grown attached :( But I fear its on it's last legs.
Recently, a white dotted line has appeared towards the top of the screen. It runs to about the middle of screen. At first it disappeared after a few minutes but now never leaves me. I've noticed that the line turns a bright green (the colour of the on screen display) when my DVD player on. However, when I change my DVD player from PAL to NTSC - the line goes.
On certain channels at certain times, there is some mirroring of the bottom of the screen above the white line.
Here's the *white line : http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/2690/whitepn.jpg
Here's the *green : http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/2332/greenbz.jpg
*The images are a bit deceiving, the line is perfectly straight and runs to around the middle.

So, I assume something inside is breaking down. Does anyone have any idea what it is and if it could be repaired?

Thanks

First step is to try changing cables and also DVD player.

If it still does it with different cables and devices (as i suspect) its repair time.

It will be repairable, but given the cost of TVs at the moment you may well be better off just buying a new one.

What TV is it ?

MissChief is on the right lines. This looks a lot like the macrovision pulses that are normally hidden off the screen. The TV isn't seriously broken, but it or the DVD player are set incorrectly for picture shape or the TV isn't scaling the picture correctly.

Thanks for replies. Isn't overscan a dvd/blueray feature? Anyway, neither my player nor TV has it. I've just tried the TV with nothing else plugged in and it was no better, so I think the aerial or DVD is not to blame. The TV is a Bush that looks a bit like http://img855.imageshack.us/i/bushdvd142tvsilver.jpg/ that but it's bigger and has a VCR built in.
I have noticed in the recent past that the image seemed too low somehow, words or logos that were part of the video would sometimes be chopped off slightly.

Probably a fault in the frame circuit, I'd guess a capacitor. Don't have a look your self, TV's will hold a charge of close to 400v on the power supply and 30,000v on the tube.
