What made you want to be a motorcyclist?

Watched MotoGP growing up and my stepdad had bikes.

Got to my 16th birthday and i asked for my first bike and got given a scooter.... sold it within weeks and got a Suzuki TS50X, which i loved. I slapped a 70cc bore kit on and BigOne exhaust. I then proceeded to blow it up (rings went pop) but then got a KH125 when i was 17.

So enamored with bikes, and the fact my friend could drive, i continued ASAP to the quickest route to a big bike. Past my test at 17 and got "restricted to 33hp" (;)), got a CBR400RR and was happy with it for a couple of years before i decided to commute... then got an XJ650.

Sold the bike and I took a rest for a few years as i lived at a flat, literally less than 100m from where i worked and there wasn't any parking.

I then moved a few miles away and had a garage, then got the GSX650F for all-round riding.

But what really got me into biking.... most of the family were big into bikes, both mums and dad side, grew up with my grandad and dad riding around DR600's and Africa twins (which is still in my backgarden... not been used for 15 years...)
Loved to watch the racing and always wanted a Ninja, had a poster on the wall, saw the error of my ways once I grew up... ;P

What got me started was my older brother had a bike also Barry sheene lived 2 mile from me which maybe had an influence to the local community many people had bikes in the area back then and still do to be honest.

Started off riding old field bikes anything that was cheap and moved peds e.t.c my first bike with gears off road when at school was a suzuki B120 :D I thought I was the dogs ********.

No one got me into biking other than myself. When i was 15, i rode illegally in France on a pedal and go, not even sure how i managed to rent one, but i did ! Got pulled by the cops while riding in Marseilles, and i distinctively remember pulling out my London bus pass, telling the cop i was british... He let me off !!! lol. Soon as i was 16 in 1988 i bought a 50cc Vespa, soon as i was 17 in 1989 I bought a TZR125. The rest is history. I did sit on the back of a Kawasaki KR1 on the way to a pub one night, (old two stroke sport bike) and the adrenaline was so intense it was all i thought about til the day i was 17 and could get my own sport bike (the TZR125 with a YPVS system, but i'd already had the Vespa by that stage, so this wasn't the trigger. But it was definitely an influence. Cos as soon as i hit 17, i was car crazy !!!! just couldn't wait to get my first car, and had it already purchased for my 17th birthday.... So if it wasn't for that ride on the KR1S, i may of stayed off bikes for ?? probably not that long, but that ride, made me want one as soon as i had the funds (after i saved enough, once i spent whatever i had on my first car.
