Bonjour just wondering what you guys are using? Ive started to cycle to work and would like a nice one to play my music. I dont want an ipod purely because i just try and stay away from anything apple. Budget is about £50 but will go higher if i can justify it to myself :)

thanks

Creative Zen 32Gb flash, size of a credit card and beat the **** out of the ipod in terms of sound quaility. The trade off is the interface is not quite as nice but i can live with that.

im same as you OP, cant find my ipod anywhere and dont want to shell out on a new one because
A) overpriced
B) cant stand using itunes
C) I want a screen but dont want to pay for something that can play movies etc

Want something small to get an armband for since my phones a bit of a chunk too.
What earphones are you looking to use? Iv broken 3 pairs in the past year in the gym, 2 £60 pairs and a £120 pair :(

iPod touch 3rd gen 32GB. I didn't like apple myself after I bough an iPod mini back in 2004 only to find it was programmed to take 250 charge cycles then stop working unless I paid an extortionate amount to get the battery replaced.

The touch is awesome, but they still have the same sealed in battery issue, so its just a matter of time before it needs replacing again. I'm not looking forward to that day

SanDisk Sansa Clip. Great player, well within your budget (mine cost £40 a year ago), 8gb, fm radio (I don't use it, not sure how good it is), compatible with Macs and PCs, built in microphone, compact (smaller than a box of tic tacs), drag and drop.

Also available now is the Sansa Clip Plus which comes with micro sd expansion. You can get the 8gb model from a major online retailer for £40.

edit- Trusted Review of the old model.

Sony NWZ A816 (8GB) with Sony Walkman earbuds. The earbuds are the ones that perform well over their price range, I think they're S80 or A80 or something.
