Hi there, Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately good overclocking s775 boards and SLI don't really go together.

For good overclocking I would certainly suggest looking for a P45 chipset board, failing that the P35, X48 and X38 are pretty great too. However, these boards only support AMD/ATI crossfire, not nvidia SLI (unless you are prepared to hack it).

The best s775 DDR2 boards that can do SLI are the ones using the Nvidia 780i chipset. These won't overclock quite as well as the intel ones, and the northbridge gets rather hot - but it seem to fit your request closest.

However, I would strongly suggest that instead of SLI you just sell the 9800GT and invest in a faster single GPU, like this.

well if i get a good overclocking motherborad and can get good speed from my cpu then mabe i wont go with sli. but maybe a board with ddr3 ram

or fast ddr2 ram . just want to get this right befor i go spend my ££££££

If you are considering buying new RAM as well as a new motherboard - you may want to consider giving up with s775 and jumping to something newer.

These days you can still sell your Q6600 for ~£80 and this will buy you a nice AMD Athlon II X4 or intel i3 (though I would certainly suggest waiting for Sandy Bridge if you want to get a new intel CPU). Also, the lower price of DDR3 will help to make this kind of upgrade affordable.

mmmm dont know what to do now i have about £300 for my upgrade thats for motherboard and ram was looking for good overclocking board and 4 to 6 gb of good ram

ive seen on net the some pep,s are getting the q6600 processor to good speeds even if i could get mine to 3gzh i would be happy i know some are gettin 3.6 gzh

and am so happy my ocz ssd harddrive as just got here :)

Aye, the Q6600 is a good CPU - but its no better than CPUs you can buy these days for the £80 you will get from selling it. On top of that DDR2 is now more expensive than DDR3 - so this fast DDR2 kit costs £29.37 more than this even faster DDR3 kit.

With the £80 you get from the Q6600 and the £30 you save from going with DDR3 RAM, you could afford a CPU like this - which is certainly an upgrade (have a look at this performance comparison), overclocks very well and allows you to use modern motherboards (like this which is good value and has loads of features).

Yeah you could get the Phenom II X4 555 BE, motherboard and RAM for under £300 and then sell your existing stuff to get some of that money back. The 555 BE would be easy to overclock as well because it's unlocked.

In that case (so long as your current system is still working OK) I would wait until January 9th, when Intel's next generation "Sandy Bridge" CPUs and motherboards are released.

and how much will that cost ? was just looking at upgrading my board and ram. my pc runs fine just want one i can overclock my processor and get better ram there are boards that run 775 lga with ddr3 ram just dont know what one is good

I hasn't been released yet - so their are no definite numbers. But these look pretty on the money to me. These prices are for bulk orders, to put them in perspective - when the i5 750 was released it was priced at $196 in bulk, and cost ~£160 on UK retailers.

If you can wait - I would hold on for Sandy Bridge. It offers much better performance for your money than just upgrading your motherboard and RAM.

Its an OK board - its a 780i and tbh not much better or worse than the other 780i boards. Botton line: it overclocks quads OK but not great (like the intel boards), northbridge runs very hot and it supports SLI. May I ask how much you have seen it for?

I suggest you remove the link and just state the make and model - we can't mention or link to OCUK competitors here as its against the forum rules.

But anyway, I would strongly suggest against going for that board. Its a lot of money for a last generation board that wasn't even that great when it was new. Also, the board is used - so you don't get any warranty.

Since you are sitting on a £80 CPU, are prepared to spend £75 on a motherboard and 4GB of fast RAM - then I would really suggest waiting until the Sandy Bridge CPUs come out in a few weeks.

If you want to upgrade your system in the mean time I would sell your 9800GT and buy this amazing value GPU.

i like the look of you set up how much is you cpu and board

are the
Sandy Bridge CPUs Quad Core

Aye, most of the i5s and all the i7 Sandy Bridge CPUs will be quad cores.

Cheers, I find it does the job well :) The CPU and board I have are currently end of life - but they are roughly equivalent to this CPU and this board you can buy now.

However, if I was still using my old system (a Core 2 Quad) and I had the money back to spend on a new system I wouldn't go for that kit again (i7 900 series, X58 board) - instead I would wait the few weeks until sandy bridge comes out and buy an i5 2500K system. Since this will be even faster than my current CPU in games, overclock better and cost less.
