what new motherboard

Good stuff - in that case you should have no issues installing and running windows on the new system with the new motherboard.

It probably goes without saying, but make sure you install the 64bit version.

thinking bout this GIGABYTE P67A-UD7 Sandy Bridge Motherboard and Core i5 2500k
4/4 3.3/3.7GHz 6MB cpu ??? and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-089-GL

what ya think

That CPU really does sound like the one to go for, 4 physical cores and unlocked multiplier for overclocking fun.

As for the RAM, these chips can only use dual channel memory, not triple channel - so you will want something like this (or a 2x4GB kit if you feel the need for the extra RAM).

As for the motherboard, I would strongly suggest you wait for the proper reviews (where they actually have a CPU to test it with), to see which board is worth going for. However, I wouldn't suspect a UD7 board is the best option as these boards usually come at a hefty price premium and come of the lower-down boards usually contain the major key features.

1155 sandy bridge is still dual channel as mentioned above.

You can use 3 sticks but an ioptimised dual channel kit will give better results especially when gaming, over a larger capacity of RAM.

As for sandybridge I can't say what motherboards are good to go for yet (under NDA) but we will have a whole section dedicated to Sandybridge, so mobos, CPUs, systems and OC bundles!
