What puts me Off PC Gaming

One thing that puts me off PC gaming is the fact that you cant really play with a friend whos in the same room as you. Using a keyboard and mouse, you cant really play a game with your friend, unless you have a gamepad, and i cannot think of any games that support these gamepads. And if you use those gamepads, then you'll probably get your ass kicked online. Also, i cant think of any PC games out there that are any good..

This is not me bad mouthing PC gamers, i'm just trying to find a reason to game on the PC, i really want to..

Football games & turn based strategy easley play on pc with 2 people:

Pro evo soccer etc
Civilization 4...
Worms series...
and more....

I hate to say it but single machine multi player is dying out! The new era is online
Yeah thats what i mean :(. Dont get me wrong i LOVE online play, in fact i LOVE it more than single player, however, i'd like to see more PC support for 2-4 players who are actually in the same room. And to the guy who said footballs a good game to play with 2 people. :O i totally forgot. Could you PLEASE recommend me a good and cheap gamepad to play footie games and FPS etc with. Thanks :)

I'm confused. If you are wanting to play against a friend at the same PC, why are you worrying about getting your ass kicked online?

Also, i cant think of any PC games out there that are any good..

I'd say this is far more of a problem than the above. If there are seriously no PC games which you consider good, then yeah, I'd steer well clear of PC gaming. I'd list all the good games I can think of on PC, but I doubt OcUK would have a large enough database to store my post.

i'm just trying to find a reason to game on the PC, i really want to..

-Biggest catalogue of titles of any platform
-Best graphics (if you have the hardware)
-Incredible tweakability and modding community
-Very mature internet gaming model
-Keyboard & mouse combo is better for some game types (FPS/RTS for starters)

At the end of the day if you truely want multiplayer gaming with your mates either persuade them to buy a PC and a online multiplayer game or stick to consoles.

I have never had more fun playing a game than when i knife a mate in battlefield 2142, or cut them off at the last corner of a race in need for speed (on the PC).

Comical. You think this statement would fuel the topic

Want to play in the same room as your friends? Buy a console. I'm trying not to sound like a jerk, but this isn't what PC gaming is about.

[EDIT] Actually, try this!

Most fun I think I have ever had with friends sharing a screen.

get with the times!

online/lan pc gaming > everything else

I dunno, if anything I'd say that was getting with the times 5 years ago :) I've only attended one LAN since 2001 and that was only because it was a bit special (in Sweden!).

With XB360 and the Wii (possibly PS3?), console gaming is grabbing a fair share of the limelight lately. I actually bought my first console since the SNES this year!

One last question, do a lot of people use comms in games like CS:S, CS:CZ and BF2142 as i'm thinking of getting these games. Thanks

A fair few do, yes. Just make sure to start/join a squad called VOIP in BF, makes things easier. As for CS, sometimes they do, quite often they don't, it's just luck. You will find a lot of people are just dormant though, so you should instigate the convo.

I'm not just saying this because I'm a bit of a fanboy but from what you want from games I'd keep an eye on the Wii. It's great for a get together of friends in the same room up for some gaming. You'll get your two player games on your PS3 and 360 but they look like most of the games for them formats will be aimed at multi play online and not so much in the same room.
