What RAM Kit should I use?

Hi guys quick question,

I'm currently using Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel in my PC, but have the opportunity to install 8GB of ram 2x4GB Avexir DDR3 1600 8GB, is it better to use 4GB of what I would call quality brand ram or 8GB of RAM from a brand I've never heard of? Can anyone please help?

Avexir at XMP should work fine and give you the total amount of RAM you need for most applications. 2 x 2gb is great for benching as it puts little stress on the IMC, but some games etc these days do need more like BF3 online hence my recommendation. At the end of the day you can at any stage revert back to the hyperX if the Avexir prove unstable.

So the total amount of ram is more important somewhat than the brand if its a lesser amount?

Depending on uses. 8gb is needed for modern games but no more than 8gb really.

All RAM no matter what brand should work as advertised, it just may not overclock as well or look as good.
