I am currently using the onboard sound with my Logitech Z-5500 Speakers. Would you recommend purchasing a PCI Sound Card? If so, which one?

I have a budget of £100 and was also wondering if you would recommend anything else for my system other than a soundcard?

Sell the Z5500s

£100 to get some decent second hand speakers and an amp
Money from z5500 to get something like an Audigy 2zs or similar/better

It will sound better this way

aye no point upgrading sound card when you're limited to your speakers, much like fitting a 6 litre engine into a Ford Focus, yet keeping the same transmission, gearbox and tyres.

Thanks guys. Should get around £170 for the Z-5500 as I sold a set last week for that, plus my £100 contribution gives me £270 to play with.

Thanks again

I bought a pair of B&W 601 S3 and a NAD C320BEE for slightly less than that budget. If you are able to distance yourself from the speakers the 602's would still be in budget, which will give you more bass (not that they are lacking. ;) )

You got those two for under £100? You must've been awfully lucky!

I had megaworks 550 5.1 speakers. I changed to a cambridge A1 and Mission M72 (or are they M71 , i cant remember)

Anywhat they blew/blow the 550s away in ever aspect
