what speakers to go with my new amp

just bought a onkyo TX605, looking to get some floor standers to go with them, looking to spend about £200-£400 on them, will be used for TV/gaming/films/music. seen the mordaunt short 908i for £399 are theses any good ? or can any one reccomend any others ?
 
You can get some entry-level floorstanders for that - Mordaunt Short's are alright - or you can get some good bookshelfs, though once you've counted the cost of a stand, the floorstanders are probably better value for money.

I've got B&W's 685s (£379) and they're awesome :)
 
I recommend looking second hand as the quality of speakers you can get will be much higher. For example, my ATC speakers were ~£500 including lead shot filled fully welded 'target stands' and cost the owner over £1300 3 years ago.

For stands definately look second hand, some atacama stands can be picked up at storming prices off 'eLay' for under £20, plus have a look at the monitor audio GS10 speakers second hand. Never got to demo them as I bought my ATCs on a whim, but they are very highly regarded as they are Monitor Audios top of the range standmounts (bar the new platinum range). SHould put the B&Ws to shame, but only your ears can tell :)
 
Right now on avforums classifieds there is a fella selling some stunning quad 21l floorstanders.

gorgeous quality speakers, sound great, have good range

He lives in exmouth in devon and is selling them for 350 quid. you wont get better for this price.

the price was little under £300, more or less new, unmarked etc, plus i havent shelled out £300 as my bank had given me more money for some unknown reason so out of my money i paid £140 :)

shall look at the speakers mentioned above :) any other suggestions for all round speakers, not to worried about their bass level as i shall be getting a sub next month :)

nah, its been in my account for about 4 months now :) just havent spent it, use to work for hsbc so if they were going to take it they would have by now :)

just been looking at some speakers now and the mission elan E34 have caught my eye, just about to look at some reviews now but they look funky as hell! and if not the elan version the m34i is also looking good, any one got any input on theses ?

i was looking at them speakers the other night, not sure what they sound like but i agree, they are pretty to look at.

I really like the look of most b&w speakers. the colour of the drivers just look so pretty :)
