What speed do you download your STEAM games at?

usually i max out my 60meg internet

but at the moment my half life pack is downloading at a combined of 69kb/s

That's my max speed for this connection, in fact it's overestimating it a bit there but it's around that. Pretty impressed with Steam on the whole. I've always had full speeds except for the last couple of gigs of Max Payne 3, which to be fair I did buy the day after release so I expect the servers were being hammered somewhat.

On my 50Mb line last night I got max Payne 3 from th London content servers at between 4-6 MB/s I had the whole 30GB in around an hour. Loving finally having infinity, wouldnt even have contemplated it on 480kbps!

I get about 1.2 MB/s for the first 1Gb or so then Virgin throttle down the speed to about 300KB/s after that. DAM my landlord for only going with the cheep Virgin package.

Steam can max out my adsl which is about 1.6mb.

I've never understood this. I consistently avarage 15m - 16m on various broadband speedtests (I live quite close to an exchange), and yet I've never seen Steam go higher than 1.9m.

What gives?

Losing my VM Cable 60mbit connection and returning to Sky at an appalling 320KB/sec is one way to cure me from being tempted by Steam.

Trouble is Guild Wars 2 has decided to download another horrifically large update. :eek:

300kb. Sometimes get 400 on a good day. Max Payne 3 has so far taken 13 hours to download 70%.

I remember getting very excited when the demo for Star Trek : Elite Forces was released. It was a MASSIVE 100mb and took 8 or 9 hours to download on my 56k modem (no one got to use the phone that day).
Installed the demo and completed it in under 3/4 hr. Not Happy.

I get downloads of between 5.5mb/sec and 6.5mb/sec through steam on my VM 50 meg line...
