Hi

The guy who's buying my old car is coming to pick uit up tomorrow.
I have the MOT certificates from the past 3 years but seem to have misplaced the one I go last year in June...What do I need to do?

Theres still 2 months left on it but I don't have the certificate to prove it.

If you can remember where you took it for the MOT you should be able to buy a duplicate of the certificate from that garage.

EDIT: having said that its hardly worth it if its only got 2 months left on it.

*cough*

If the sale is a done deal, I would risk getting it re mot'd as it could end up costing you ;)

If tomorrows deal falls through then, yes get it re mot'd.

Yea but I just don';t want the guy to think I'm giving him a car that hasnt passed MOT.

I'll just tell him to get the duplicate I think, he's coming with a guy who works for the AA tomorrow so he may know what needs to be done.

You can easily prove the car has an MOT by going to that site I posted, so just print that out.

But you have told the guy it has an MOT?

If you can't produce one then he can't check the documents and drive it home.

Ring him and tell him the situation. A car without a current MOT is worth significantly less so I would MOT it.

I cant get the infor from that site becaue I dont know what the other details its asking me for are.

I'm thinking about going down to the garage tomorrow and just getting a replacement.

The guy has done all the checks on the car so knows its legit. But I'm just having trouble with this one MOT, I have the V5 doc etc, so thats not a prob.

That will only work if the car originally had a new type MOT certificate which I doubt very much.

pretty sure it would be the new type, if it runs out in june it must have as my mot runs out tomorrow and I have the new type certificate.

I think that site just asks you for the reg and the reference number on your v5 certificate if you have one.

My MOT expires in October. I have a traditional MOT certificate.
