What to do in Chicago..

Go see Sue, the world's most complete T-Rex fossil at the Field Museum (which I think is next to the aquarium).

I'm told the sightseeing tour on the river is pretty good.

Daly Plaza, setting for the end of the Blues Brothers (hut! hut! hut!)

Go up the Sears tower too, walk along the waterfront, visit the many museums, go to a ball game or at least visit Wrigley Field (home of the Chicago Cubs), go out and wander round the many different neighbourhoods.. there's a lot to see and do!

Really nice city, Sears Tower a must, and a night at a jazz club mandatory, good music and what an atmosphere. Shopping is good and there are bars, theatres, and clubs to suit every taste. When I was there they were filming a scene for a Batman movie, we just walked round the corner one evening and stopped each of us thinking we shouldn't have had that last 5 pint beer bong (big tube filled with beer/lager and a tap at the bottom) before we realised we were not sharing a hallucination.

Theres a good brazillian restaurant in town which has to be experienced. They give you a mat (green on one side and red on the other) you leave it green side up and they keep bringing you food, when your trouser waist is about to explode you turn it red and they stop for a breather. Then go back to green when you want, it means you dont have a huge plate of food at one time which is nice. 14 different kinds of meat are circulating so not fantastic if you are a strict veggie who doesnt like the smell of meat. There was a couple in our party who were and they were ok, they just kept helping themselves to the "all you can eat" starters.

Only tip is not to bother with a taxi back to the airport, the train is far better, quicker and cheaper. I got a taxi in because it was Sunday I arrived and I had no idea which train to get. Everyone in the hotel and the shops told me to get the train on the way back (Friday evening) I did and I shot past the miles of tailback on the way back to the airport on an empty train right to the airport door.

Catch a baseball game or NFL game if you can depending on when you go. A day by the lake is always great and there's quite a good free zoo lakeside too

The depot I'm going to is actually in West Chicago, (next to DuPage Airport if you know it) so the tips on the public transport might be useful for getting to the waterfront and the centre. I'm always up for trying new food so that could be interesting too!

I'm not sure how much time I'll have free, but at first I thought it might get a bit dull. By the sounds of it that will be saved for the slightly less glamerous but more regular buisness trips to Dumfries..

PK!
