I'll be buying a new guitar soon to replace my old Squier Strat. I originally thought about selling the strat but it isn't in great condition and so I thought that I could use it as a project and maybe do it up a bit and learn a bit about how to set up guitars etc. with it not mattering too much if I don't do it right. So I was wandering if anyone could give me ideas on what to do with it and good sites that could help me with it?

Thanks in advance

you could take it apart and give it a good cleaning. Put it all back together, intonate and setup to liking.

feeling arty?
Is that your guitar and did you paint it?

New pickups in it?

any suggestions as to which ones?

Probably not worth doing it up. Give it to someone as a christmas present and get them playing guitar too.

I don't really know anyone who would appreciate it and I reckon it would be good to get knowledge of how it works/fits together and help me learn how to maintain/setup a guitar even if I don't end up getting a very good guitar at the end of it

Play some Hendrix and set it on fire. Video and youtube it of course.

I like this idea; maybe if it all goes wrong

Its a friend's guitar. But you just get a silver sharpie and go crazy with it.

Replacing pickups (good ones) are often very expensive. If you can stretch your budget, I recommend Lace Sensors.

It looks awsome. How long did it take them to do the whole guitar?

I don't know if my budget would be able to stretch to Lace Sensors, do you have any suggestions on any slightly lower budget pickups?

Keep it as a backup in case you break a string on your other one and can't be without a guitar until you replace it? Don't bother replacing the pickups unless you're using a semi decent amp or else you probably won't notice any real difference.

Put it up for advertisement for free? The give it away idea is a nice one if you can't think of anything that really tickles your fancy.

I already have a bc rich warlock in standard tuning and i use my strat for drop b tuning atm. I'll be getting a new one to replace the strat as my low tuning guitar so I will always have a spare.

I have a marshall half-stack so I think I would hear a difference from new pickups.
