bought a SSD hard drive 60 Gb and unsure what to store on it than windows.

do programmes load faster with page file been on another disk drive and the programme been on the SDD or vice versa?

programmes like adobe fireworks, microsoft outlook or should i leave them all on the SDD.

+i also heard someone saying you should leave your SDD 10 % free (for preformance) ? any reason why?

My idea would be to stick the stuff you use a lot on the SSD. I've never really understood people's fear of actually using their shiny new hardware. After all, the speed is what you paid the money for.

Personally I keep the swap file on the main SSD (or my second SSD) and it's not caused any issues yet. In time in may cause write degradation, but by then this generation of drives will be hopelessly obsolete anyway. At least that's what I tell myself. :D There are a lot of tweaks and stuff you can do, but like a lot of PC tweaking, how much actual real world difference they make is open to debate.

lets hope it feels like the 20 gb ide harddisk abandoned in the dusty corner ey.

ok after a bomb shell of research i've concluded the following:

the page really doesn't impact that much on preformance as many users have deleted the page file all together so shouldn't be that much harm putting it to another hard drive.

here's a thing i'm currently stuck on.

people say leave 10-15% of the drive free so hence when your format your hard drive, make a single partition of 85% of the disk space and leave the rest empty. this leads tot eh question how much space should i leave ont he partition so windows doesn't crash due to the drive been too full?

I leave about 10gb of my 80gb intel left unallocated and it does <seem> to help a bit.

As per the page file, you would have to do thousands of gb transferrs through your ssd over years and years, after a year and a lot of use as my os drive with my page file on it; my ssd total writes?

1.19tb; at this rate its just never going to 'wear out'; checking your ssd doesnt wear out is like putting heatsinks on ram.

Might seem useful but it is ultimately pointless as there just isnt much of a a problem to address.
