Hi,

Somehow my bro spilt loads of engine oil all in his boot! Any suggestions for the best way to clean it all out of the carpet?

Good luck!

Soap powder is pretty good at cleaning my driveway so perhaps a load of that and a jetwash might do the trick?

Ive heard you can use Autoglym Intensive tar remover to get oily stains out of upholstery. It would depend on the amount spilt tho I'd imagine.

It was a whole engines worth of old oil. :( Fell over in the boot and the lid opened.

Thanks for the suggestions, will relay them to him.

It took me a few washes with warm water, a lot of squeezing it out with kitchen towel and a couple of months to sort it out when I knocked over a bottle with a loose lid and spilt about 300ml, so I dread to think how bad it would be with an engine's worth.

can it be taken out?

If so stick it in the bath with hot water and loads of washing liquid. Rinse through a few times to remove excess. Then leave in bath for a few hours with a proper grease/oil remover.

Would also suggest this, will need to steep to get any of that out.

Altough I doubt the smell will go away.

Washing up liquid and a some water should work but yeah less hassle to just replace the carpet id have thought.

edit: I see i was slightly beaten to this method, If i remember right tho the washing up liquid stops the oil from not mixing with the water and makes it easier to clean.
