Hey all. In the market for a new TV. Currently have a 65" XF9005 which I love but I want something with VRR for the PS5.

So I've narrowed it down to a 77" LG C2 (from Crampton & Moore, professionally calibrated) for ~£2800 or a Sony 75" X95K (for £2299).

Completely different TV's and technology. Never owned an OLED, not even seen one in the flesh. Will find a showroom to have a look but looking for opinions and experiences.

Sources are an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 for all streaming services and UHD Blu-ray's and PS5 for gaming.

So, what say you? Thanks!

Oh, I have a Samsung N950 soundbar that serves me well to this day so not bothered about anything other than picture quality and experience.

The Sony TV is great, the OLED is greater.

Hey the OLED.

I have an 85 X9096 and a 77 B2 OLED.

OLED and gaming is a concern. No problem with games that have no static HUD, but I'd be wary with ones that do have them.

As for soundbar, replace that with a 5.1 and AVR.

In my experience of 4 and a half years of gaming on an LG B7, as long as it's something you're aware of and take basic steps to mitigate it needn't be a constant worry. From what I gather newer panels are even less susceptible to burn-in than the one in mine.

Mates been playing World of Warcraft on his 55 LG CX OLED for over 2 years now with around 3000 + hours on it and no issues at all.

Is the ABL dimming thing something that really happens frequently enough to be annoying or much like the burn-in worry, it's not really a worry?

What are people's thoughts on the professional calibration angle? Something worth doing?

Calibration is defo worth doing. But not worth doing and paying for before you even buy the panel.
Proper calibration (especially with an Oled) should be done in the room that it's going to be used in, even then it's best that it's done once the panel has had a few hundred hours of use.

Panasonic oleds are pretty much accurate out the box :)

I played a lot of Warzone during lockdown on my E7 from 2017. I now have a permanent mini map and compass burned into my screen, along with various other burned in items from the static HUD. I think I must have been unlucky with the panel. Its terrible!

Yeah the older models were bad. Happened on a B series oled as well. However, 2020 models onwards have much better technology to stop it happening and it really isn't common anymore. They wouldn't be pushing oleds as gaming monitors otherwise.
