Ok guys'n'gals,

i'm eligible for an upgrade now and i hate my Touch Diamond with a passion, its a worthless pile of junk.
I do like the look of some HTC phones, but my god i don't want another turkey like the TD.
So....what would you guys advise? Android over WinMo? I quite like the N97 mini as i deployed one before xmas to the bosses wife and it seemed ok.
N900 looks cool but its heeeuugggeee! The iphone is took big for me too.
I'd prefer something similar in size to the TD.
In truth due to the sluggishness of the TD i find the touch screen etc a real PITA now. But i guess with a decent phone that wouldn't be an issue.

My contract ends in July so i can wait until then i guess.....but ya know how it is.....i wants something.....and i wants it now......
....just don't know what it is i want.

Help! Please! :D

A fellow Touch Diamond hater! 3 months until my contract expires, but I've just found that I can get £75 for my diamond from one of these "trade your old phone in" companies, so I can pay off my contract immediately. Your TD need not by a "worthless pile of junk" :D

I've found that the options for decent smaller phones are limited. I'm avoiding the TD2 and was going to give the N900 a miss, as I would prefer an Android OS.

What about the Motorola Dext? Still bigger than the TD, but slightly smaller than the Iphone. Motorola have confimed it will get upgraded to Android 2.1.

Is the Touch Diamond really that bad?!

I need a spare phone for a couple of months and have been offered one of those..but if its that bad..eish

Seems to be a Marmite thing, I love mine, installed SPB Mobile Shell and it just rocks now:D

Care to expand on that please?
If mine wasn't slower than a snail and actually did what you wanted, when you wanted, i wouldn't have such an issue with it.

I'm all ears if you have any advice on different rom or software to put on it.

I've gone for the Diamond as well, I've done a bit of reading over on xda-dev and apparently some of the 6.5 ROMs are pretty decent.

But defo interested if anyone has any advice

I wouldnt mind getting a touch HD/2 but I really cannot justify the price.
I like my touch diamond though. Especially since I put a custom rom on it. Be warey though, there are some utter **** ones.

So glad I dropped my Diamond in the snow:p sending it to mazuma for £30 tomorrow. E72 should be delivered soon:)

I had an MDA Vario IV ( Tmobiles version of the Touch Pro ) and to begin with it was "Ok". I had went from a Vario II to it. However, it soon gets annoying. Low battery life, having to reset it every other day, 10 second response time whilst texting sometimes etc.

Don't get me wrong, I've used worse handsets but I wouldn't recommend the Touch Pro now.

I've recently moved to an iPhone and whilst I'm certainly not an Apple fanboi, the iPhone is a breath of fresh air after using the MDA. Loving it so far. :)

I've got a vario iv also, the Tmobile rom was hideously sluggish, I went through several roms before sticking with the NRG rom from XDA win mo 6.5 without manila, runs like a dream with plenty of programs already included.

But now have a HD2 and the size increase is not really a problem it so much more finger friendly.

The Diamond was a big mistake on HTC's part, SO crap.

Unfortunately, this made people think all HTC phones are crap and miss out on the decent ones.

As for recommendations:

HTC HD2
HTC Hero
Motorola Milestone

Or wait for the HTC Bravo

Loving the Diamond so far....

Much better experience with WM using this than I had on the Sony X1
