What was in your childhood diet that isn't in your current diet?

Too many to mention, but some of them not mentioned here were:

club biscuits
monster munch crisps
space fleet 2000 sherbet filled spaceships
viscount biscuits
assorted sweets, e.g. sugar mice

Mountain Dew.

I used to live off of the stuff drinking at least 3 a day and often more. I eventually realized it was just the caffeine I wanted and switched to energy shots to get my fix.

I'm down to one (energy shot) per day, and Mountain Dew, the beverage I used to love, tastes terrible to me now. I don't drink it at all.

Chops, we would always have chops in the 70's. Oh and Spam Fritters, food was breathtakingly dull in those years. Money, I guess, was harder to come by, it was the time when men were still the main bread winners and women stayed at home. I think this must have been changing as we seemed pretty poor but we did have a car and a boat and owned our house. Maybe it was just the food. My mum used to make spaghetti Bolognese out of mince beef, onion, a tin of tomatoes and Worcester sauce. I certainly do not have that.

Angel Delight as pudding or my mums fruit cakes.

We used to have chops a lot then too - I think they were cheap cuts of meat then compared to todays prices where lamb is very expensive
Both lamb and pork chops used to be cheap cuts in the 1970s. Same with lamb shanks, beef cheeks and oxtails until they got trendy with TV chefs in the 1990s.

I remember my mother discovering Vesta curries and these became a regular thing along with Chinese takeaways once the family discovered there were foods that weren’t bland and brown.

I blame food rationing for conditioning Brits into accepting utterly bland meals that were mostly spuds, swedes and whatever green veg was cheapest out in rural Hertfordshire.

I still love a Barnsley chop and eat them quite often.

I used to have deep fried chips often when I was younger. Must be about 15 years since I deep fried a chip at home. Too unhealthy and the smell was a pain in the ass.

moved on to oven cooking the chips and now we’re on to air fryers. You’ll never beat the taste and crispness of a deep fried chip though.

Spam Fritters
We used to have these at school and now my local chippy cooks them to order. I really like them.

This is a spam thread but it's actually an interesting subject so even though the OP has been spam banned, we'll leave it open.

Wonder how much longer the admin will let the data harvesting bot run on the forum for? You must be able to see a pattern in the questions being asked
Did you report them? Now we've seen them, it's been dealt with.

Salt and vinegar potato shapes, remember late 80s ealry 90s maybe mum used to get them from one of those discount freezer places.
They were immense but even google thinks I'm a liar!

Been donkeys since I've had turkey drummers as well

Never even heard of a Barnsley chop! @robfosters

@m4rmite Rusks dipped in egg custard! oh my

Used to love these, had forgotten all about them. Also you just reminded me of the Chicago Town small deep dish pepporoni pizzas, thought they were tasty...not sure what they are like these days.
They’re still pretty decent for what they are. Best ones are the mega meaty and the piccante nduja.

I air fry them instead of microwaving now.

Semolina pudding with a spurious red syrup decanted from an aluminium jug. That and tapioca pudding which looked like frog spawn, also with the suspiciously industrial tasting red syrup.
