I've only just been able to sit down properly and catch up on stuff here due to getting a slipping disc seven weeks a go.
I sat on the back of a fizzy that some oik had nicked and was monging about on back in my Liverpool days, around 1975 when I was 12 ish I'd guess. Two up across the local tip wasn't exactly as exciting as I'd hoped for as I recall. A few months later however my brother's mate turned up on his Suzuki GT 550 and as luck would have it everyone was out (mum and dad thought they were death traps) and so he asked if I'd like a ride around on the back instead. Now this is more like it I thought...until he ducked down and wheelied it across an open railway crossing and nearly had me off the back of it. It was utterly fantastic all the same. Life then took it's usual twists and turns and I ended up going to London to work and either push-biked it or drove everywhere, not once thinking of a bike in that time. Fast forward to 2006 to a random BBQ, where an ex of mine turned up with a guy who just happened to be a bike instructor. A few chats later and a few hundred quid lighter I had a scooter. Now three scooters later (handy for London in my defence), one of which stands next to a Honda Crossrunner. Both of which will suffice for the time being...maybe.
