What watch do you wear?

Just ordered this, arrives tomorrow for general duties. Something I don't need to worry about. It's all very well having expensive watches as I do, but having just had my IWC repaired I could have bought 4 of these and a coffee for the price of the service.

Will wearing your IWC more infrequently make any difference to service intervals?

Edit: sorry, you said repair, I thought you meant service :p

I actually meant both. It has been repaired (stop watch button stopped working, nothing more), serviced and also polished back to new as there were some very fine wear and tear marks on it, all gone now. Still sitting in New Bond Street awaiting collection. I have a 'watches and whisky' night on New Bond Street with another manufacturer in a week or so, so plan to collect it then. I also plan to put one of my Breitlings in for service too and then sell that, finally.

Too thick?!! its tiny!

I wouldn't call it tiny at 13mm thick, it's smaller than a diver granted, but everything is. I have several watches at 12mm or less, I know we're only talking mm here - I just find thicker watches awkward with well fitted shirt cuffs.

I'm currently wearing a diver that is 14mm to give some comparison.

Can anyone recommend a good place for restoring a Rolex circa 1959, and where to buy a nice leather strap to suit it. Someone crap "serviced" it years ago and it's not right. The minute hand isn't lined correctly with hour hand so when it's 12pm on hour hand it looks like it's 12:10pm.

Its been in a drawer for about 10 years and I think it's time to give it use.

Had my local watch repairer check my JLC to see how it was running after 6 years of not being regulated.....+6 seconds. I'll be getting it serviced soon as a matter of course, but am still impressed with it's timekeeping.

Nice! What made you decide to go for the older one rather than the the new master chronometer 8900 PO with the ceramic bezel and dial out of interest?

Very nice - Not too overstated!

My kind of watch!

Honestly I didn't even know there was an old and new model lol. Price was a big part too.

:) I trust you haggled? The new one is essentially:

1) gloss ceramic dial and face
2) metas certified master chronometer (-0+4 per day and anti magnetic)
3) new micro adjustable strap

Possibly didn't see it as stock is still in short supply, a lot of high street shops don't have them. Plus they don't have the orange numbers you like :D

Am I allowed to sell my Omega seamaster Ceramic in the Members Market section?

I don't believe you can, however it may be worth messaging one of the mods to double check.

I got mine at Heathrow so it was already reduced from 3950 to around 3300.....yes I still tried haggling but I am as good at haggling as I am at taking pictures, please give me a reduction, no, aww gwan, no, ok :-(

I think I saw that one, I probably looked at the price and pooped a little though.

:D at duty free this would've been £3666 (£4400 retail), so not a million miles away but still more!

I don't think you can haggle much at duty free as they know the prices are already basically unbeatable really...i got mine for £3650 from Hackett by asking him to match duty free :D

I think if I had seen that watch at that price I probably would have gone for it, stunning is all I can say. The orange numbers were not a big selling point for me, I do like them but I usually err on the more tasteful side.
