What watch do you wear?

It needed a button fixing and a service and a free polish was 'thrown in' for the sum of 430 quid.

Ahhh, it needed work. How much is a service on its own? I've always wondered if it's one of those things dealers and manufacturers talk about and nobody does.

Dad is in Vegas. I asked him to keep an eye out for a specific Longines for me. Let's see if he finds anything...

He likes perving over watches himself (owns a couple of Breitlinfs, Cartier etc) so it's not hard to convince him to go to a watch shop.

 This is all getting a bit rich for my blood :D

Fairly standard for most expensive watches, but they turn back up looking good as new with a nice service case and the all important receipt which is basically like service history for a car. Keeps your watches value as high as possible :)

So long as they're not getting overpolished, which can be a risk if they're polished every time they're serviced. Reduced lug thickness due to polishing is definitely not a good thing if resale is of concern.

My Omega 2254 is currently in with STS for a service and fettle. Over £400 for this........................however, it is 11 years old and this will be it's first service so not too bad...ish.

I'm intending on keeping my Sub away from servicing until its timekeeping (+/-2.5 seconds a day) goes completely off. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...although there's that niggle inside that says you wouldn't run an engine without topping up the oil for extended periods, and the things driving these watches on our wrists are just extremely accurate little mechanical machines, that could probably do with regular servicing.

Agreed if it is working leave it alone. My 2254 however was gaining > 30 minutes a day so it was definitely needed after 11 years!

Just landed in the UK after being away for business... Watch was returned from Omega to the AD that I bought it from (through Dominic at Hackett) on Friday and the chap who runs the place was kind enough to meet me at the Sofitel in Heathrow at 10.15pm to make sure I got it!

I have read similar reports of service like this, that doing customer service right!

Have just looked on his website, some loveley Omega's on there at the moment at a good price! Its my 30'th in May....hummmm

Much better :) my ocd can relax now :D
Super nice Tom !!!! :)

I still want the Titanium PO with rubber strap but will wait until my 40th (18 months) until I drop further money on another watch. That allows time for two more BaselWorld events for new an exciting products to lure me :)
I've since dropped the money on a new road bike so will enjoy riding that in the meantime.
