What is Windows 7 and why am I reading some things on that list that already exist?

Next Windows OS

Aaaaaaaand I will be the first to say... WE SHOULD ALREADY HAVE THSE THINGS!

But some top suggestions in there which I never even thought about having.

Loving the 2nd to last point in the "new features" list. That should make troubleshooting a whole lot easier! The built-in partion ability sounds cool as well. :D

These look like feature requests to me, a bit early to start saying they're going to be a part of the next Windows release. It would be nice but there's things that people wanted in Vista that didn't make it (an auto-hide taskbar that auto-hides would be nice) so I won't get my hopes up :).

wish the reverted to a windows 98 style setup where you can choose exactly which features are installed

Unfortunately I can only see that happening if a big event like the MSBlaster worm came along that took advantage of a vulnerability in, say, Windows Movie Maker and could spread around the web autonomously.

Yep it's just a leaked feature request list. Doesn't mean anything but there's a good chance I reckon of quite a few of these making their way to W7.

Interesting.. Alough these things should have been released along time ago with XP. It's all about the money!

I see they've got the important things back like pinball!!!

Re-sizable diaglog boxes are a welcome addition although some programs do it already. Really annoys me when you can't see the whole path etc.

no dialog box should take away keyboard focus...omg, please please can they do this. It's one of my biggest pet hates with computers, irritating beyond words

A move away from drive letters to volume names would be nice. No more having to manually set the drive letter of a USB drive just because you plugged something else in and it's now hiding. And no having to update all your shortcuts just because you reinstalled Windows and it gave all the drives different letters to your last install.

Give me /Volumes/Macintosh HD over C:\ any day.

Yeah I mean why weren't these availalbe in Windows 98!

All these features should be provided in XP as an update pack given away free and delivered to my house on the back of a Unicorn while Bill Gates comes in to install it for me! OK I've only got a pirated version of XP which I've been using for the last 4 years and I've got a UBER PC that I spent ££££ but I resent the idea of having to pay for the software that actually makes my computer work!
