What would happen bills wise if I lost my job?

lower cancellation fees, which came into effect in 2010 under rules from ofcom, find out how much to cancel your contract.

Yeh, but then everything becomes due instantly. Considering that mobile tariffs are interest free credit, it may be better just keeping it going.

Cancelling contracts usually get's a VAT discount and nothing more.

Credit Card - £40 a month (min payment is less) - PRIORITY
Car Insurance - £83 a month - LUXURY, CANCEL INSURANCE UNTIL YOU CAN AFFORD
Credit Card - £25.00 a month (min payment is less) - PRIORITY
Mobile - £50 a month - CANCEL CONTRACT UNTIL YOU CAN AFFORD AND GET PAY AS YOU GO
Credit Card - £40 a month (min payment is less) - PRIORITY
Petrol - £100 a month - PUBLIC TRANSPORT?
Internet - £50 a month - LUXURY, CANCEL

Clear your debts and get out of the spiral of using credit card(s). Once you have paid one off then chop it up.

If you can move all three to a 0% then do it but be careful and do your homework as if you think you won't be able to pay it off in a certain period some cards accrue the interest and you end up paying a lot more.

You want to avoid bad debts or anything that can effect your credit history and future employability (i.e. petty debts claims etc).

Some people are unwilling to view internet/mobile/car as luxuries, if it's the difference between having the sheriffs at your door or not - I'd choose an un-luxurious way of living for a bit!

Have tried this mate but have been declined for cards :(

£1900 over the 3 cards which isn't as bad as it could be.

Have you actually called one of your card providers and asked them directly if they will consolidate your cards for you? Might be worth a shot as your CC debt really isn't that high (judging by what you've said your minimum payments are).

Ouch hope she's okay.

I'm not that knowledgeable in these areas but as I understand it getting JSA isn't as easy as losing your job on Friday and claiming on Monday, there might be a lag where you have no income coming in.

Therefore seek professional advice, ideally the council or the citizens advice bureau ASAP.

Thanks all for your input. Going to hospital now so head is a bit over the place.

I did ring 02 and they reduced my payment down to £31 a month from £50 and said that this is the lowest they can go. My contract is up for renewal in Feb so I should be able to cancel it. They did say that they could see about putting me on a Plan where it would cost £10 a month but my phone would be barred. I'll do this if I need to this week but right now, I need a phone for jobs.
