I'd give some away, save a fair bit and then have a good spend with a few percent of it.

Edit : I'd talk to my financial adviser first. ;)

Well no, it couldnt be done, because it isn't enough money to secure an investment Visa into either Australia or New Zealand, let alone buy any sort of property.

Except perhaps a 1 bedroom flat.

£100k will open a lot of doors
a hostel is providing a service to tourism and providing local employment
£100k wouldn't buy the building outright but it's certainly a figure that would lead to a pay-out agreement on the remainder
