What would you put in YOUR MMO game?

It was a world raid boss. Began with a K.

They kited him from blasted lands. They hot fixed it for him to reset on leaving blasted lands now as everyone started doing it :D we got him as far as darkshore before npcs slowed us down and he zerged us :D

Aaahh yeah that was it. I remember now. Highlord Kruul I think. :)

See now that's not even Blizzard or GM controlled, that is all down to the players and that's exactly the sort of thing that should be encouraged not prevented. I guess they patched it as there were no doubt hundreds of whining kids complaining. No sense of humour some people. :p

Hmm. Interesting Concept. How about an MMO designed for permadeath?

Might be a bit short-lived however.

I wouldn't have a problem with a permadeath game, if the design was done right, I have in my Uo days created characters and placed a self imposed permadeath rule on them, so I've already done it before.

Indeed, there was a large community of players in DDO that played the permadeath style, in that characters got deleted if they died without a cleric around to raise them....

Talk about promoting the slow, team play based style of play however.

Just world pvp. Anyone anywhere anything can be killed. WoW sucks because its all about dungeons, Eve is ok and WAR:Online was naff. Just release a game called PVP. Persistant world, fantasy or guns doesnt make a difference. Skills over attack sequences.

Please :)

Makes sense from an RP standpoint though, a character is born , lives and then dies. After all, if everyone could resurrect then who is buried in all those mmo cemeteries :)

If it was MY MMO... A feature that removes ALL nerds from games. Nothing ruins a game more than a elitest nerd. The ones that...

are 40, live with their mums and belive that the said mmo is better than real life.

Say 'Lol', 'Brb' and ' OMG' in real life.

The ones where if you make a slightly neg comment about said game feel they have to comment on your opinion with something like "WELL GET THE F OFF THE GAME U SAD C" or "WELL WHY DONT U GO PLAY ON ANOTHER GAME N00B!"

When your new and ask a question. They feel they have to show every one how much smarter than you they are when it comes to the game. "...What a noob LEARN YOUR CHARACTER pr***!"

The ones that spend 90% of their spare time (Spare meaning not playing the MMO) on the forums reading up tacts, sytles and latest upgrades. Then rollocking any one else who doesn't know what they know..

SO yea.. :P That feature id deff have in.

While I feel some of your pain.... there are no controls over the gaming population of an MMO.

Not unless the game was made obviously oblique in such a manner that said gamer types would not be interested in a game.

Which means put a proper RPG angle into an MMO :D:p

They kited Doom Lord Kazzak from Blasted lands. However Doomlord Kruul was spawned near many major cities during the pre- Burning Crusade Events.

As for my MMORPG, emphasis on open world pvp, open world bosses rather than instancing, 3rd person aiming rather than click and auto attack.. Also involving and well designed talent trees that fufill both pve and pvp.

Open world bosses can cause massive grieving issues though. Final Fantasy 11 was bad for other Linkshells training massive trains of mobs onto the many other guilds camping the world boss spawns for hours.

They do indeed, but tbh, back in the pre-BC days, the world bosses were by far the most fun to kill. The rush of pvp, combined with a formidable pve oppoment really brings the game to life, and instancing just becomes dull and monotonous after the first few times.

I would have a disclaimer on my game warning people in advance if they are adverse to a little griefing. War, crafting, trade and politics, thats what a good MMO should be about imo.

- skill based leveling. (no actual levels though) Ie. You would gain points / exp. for solving puzzles, defeating very tough enemies, utilizing trade skills to the maximum, forging alliances, defeating other player controlled characters, discovering artifacts. (a step further would be to remove all mobs and only have bosses/random spawns).

- deep GM involvement. By this i mean you could have maybe 1 or 2 GMs on a server responsible for policing the community, but also creating new events and organizing conflicts/tournaments, changing landscapes and controlling the world adding interest and an unpredictable environment guided by the intelligence and planning of a human with god powers.

- persistant and shifting world, factions battling for control of resources, land, and structures, permanent and semi-permanent structures constructed and raized, or standing defiant.

- randomized and soloable dungeons, graded from easy to extremely difficult , perhaps randomly spawned, perhaps secret or difficult to discover, dark, creepy, atmospheric places.

- tiered ranks, based on importance, votes, popularity, responsiblities that unlocked new powers, abilities, and forms with which you could help your faction defeat powerful enemies. There would be only one king / leader / demi-god / whatever, but plenty of lueitenants too!

- openworld raid bosses, openworld pvp, openworld real-time quests.

- small communities / server populations, therefor larger contribution to the game/playerbase.

- amazing graphics/world, we play on PC's, so please, make use of the bleeding-edge hardware!!

Have other ideas too, but mainly I think setting/game style/backstory are of secondary importance to an MMO unless its gets all those ingredients plus a little more. As you can see, a lot of the features might make the game quite costly to run or lack mass appeal. If it were good enough however, me and a lot of other players would definitely shell out an extra few quid.

That's more than one or two people who mentioned this.

Its fascinating that we've had similar content since the Diablo days, but where is it in a bleedin' MMO?!?
