Took it in the back garden then used Photshop X2 to give it a slight harsh look and a bit of cropping

This is the end result.

Does the DOF field look ok

the right side of the figure (and the lower half) is out of focus and there's not enough contrast between foreground and background. I think this shot has potential as a DOF exercise but will need a re-shoot.

Hmmm, looks a bit odd. To me, it looks like you've selected the head in Photoshop and then blurred everything else.

the DoF is out and the contrast needs tweaking.

Apart from that, I like it, composition is good.

It's a good shot but needs to be sharper - the part that is in focus (the figurine) is still out of focus slightly in my eyes, I would use a deeper DoF personally, looks like you have used something around F1.8 - 2.0, have you just bought the Nifty Fifty?

Otherwise - it looks nice!
