Whats a reasonable clock for a 5770?

Depends on the memory tbh.

The ones using Samsung chips are rated at 1300 (meaning amd shipped the memory under-clocked) but wont go much above 1320, maxing at 1350 . Ones using the Hynix memory, i.e.. rev 1 cards, will do 1400-1450 easy.

900/1300 is pretty much guaranteed for every card, 950/1320 ish will probably be the limit - on stock volts but remember, Samsung ram is error checking, so pushing to too high will actually make performance worse.

I have tried overclocking my Asus 5770 in the past to pretty much what you have nymins. 950/1300 with no change to voltage and it always crashes after 5-10 mins in F1 2010? Do you NEED to change the volts for such a small overclock or do I just have a weak card?

I had to raise the voltage on my sappire 5770 as soon as it got past 900

but first try 950 core with your memory at stock (1200) and also stock voltage.
because as stated above some don't overclock very well at all.
However its the core that will give your most performance

Ok got msi installed. I can't seem to change the voltage even if I wanted to though? It's greyed out and there are no values for the voltage. Tried raising the core to 949 mhz, got about 30 seconds into a time trial of f1 2010 and the game locks up. When I get back to the desktop it gives me a message saying the amd driver has recovered. Max gou temp of 64C so no overheating issues or anything. Basically the same problem I had as before.

Is it possible I just have a weak card which can't overclock well?

edit: I have been fine tuning and have gotten the core up to 929 mhz now and it's stable. Max temp 67C.
