I'm on 400x8 3.2Ghz Q6600 in my Lian-li PC7.

I am using a Thermaltake Ultra with one 1600RPM fan on it, with an extraction fan directly on the other side of it. I have only one other fan at the front of the case at the bottom drawing "cool" air inward. My CPU temps are idling at 49C and load hitting 70C. Am I right in thinking that these are little warm for a setup of this sort? I know they're probably more than adequate, but to get thate extra overclock out of the CPU, a temperature decrease by 5-10C that I've seen in similar setups would be better. Anyone got a take on it?

if its the g0 in you're sig i would say thats hot from what i've seen posted.

has the cooler been seated properly, not too much thermal paste etc ?

drop the case side of and see if it makes a difference to the temps.

what voltage are you putting through the processor for 3.2 ?

Hi there, yes it's the G0 version. I've already reseated it just recently, doesn't appear to made much difference. Didn't think I put too much on, but it's possible I suppose...

noticed in you're sig that you have the abit ip35 pro, on another thread someone recommended it cos they say it runs cool and clocks quad cores well

not seen any mention of the batch of g0's being very concave but i guess that could be a problem have previous problems with the intels.

what sort of temps does it run at if you set everything to default ?

Take 1 or 2 of your 5.25" bay covers off and see what happens to your temps. Doing this dropped over 10c off mine, and since discovering this I picked up a Scythe Kama Bay. Temps now a constant 10-12c lower than before.

I managed to leave the volts running at 1.48V, which is a good 0.1V higher than I thought it was. I've managed to lower it to 1.38V and it's still stable. Temps are now 37-38C idle, 62C load.

Much better. Thanks for reminding me about the voltage :)

I tried taking the side of the case off and the temps dropped by say 4-5C.As for the bay covers, no I haven't. I hide lots of wires in there anyway, so it would be ugly.

being as its only a test worth a go, just power it all off, re arrange the wiring to let the air flow through then see how it does.

being as the temps dropped with the side off it indicates the air flow could be improved.

what sort of fan arrangement have you got in you're case ?

^^ Yeah, agreed. I didn't mean for you to keep them off, just see if the cooling improves with them off. If it does, then you can see about some form of bay cooling.
