Whats best-paste 2 cpu or paste 2 heatsink

Just wandering whats the best way to apply thermal paste.
is it best to put a thin layer over the cpu or a thin layer over the heatsink.

depends on the paste and your defernition of thin.
Also direct heatpipe coolers need a lot more that a thin scrape

ive got an akasa nero cooler and am gonna use gelid extreme paste.

I would love to know where you guys are getting your Gelid Extreme from, I can't find it anywhere!

always cpu unless you can get a very thin layer, then do it on both.

I use Tuniq TX-3 paste, bloody damn good if you ask me. With a thermal conductivity of 6.2W/mk for all of us Electrical Power Engineers out there.
I had TX-1 with my old Tuniq Tower and got this new TX-1 and there has been a good drop of 5C which is good.

ive got something on the way actually as ive been reading about all this 'thermal conductivity'
meant to have thermal conductivity of 12.5 w/mk, and resistance of 0.009kw

any techies know if thats any good? hehe they reckon it is at work
