7800GS will be faster surely? Based on the 7800GT core its got to be quicker than a 7600GT

the reason the 7600gt gets recommend is that they are only a tad slower than the standard 16 pipe 7800gs but are much cheaper.

of course the gainward 20/24 pipe models are quite a bit quicker but they are far too expensive for what they are. if you have the money for these cards, you'd be much better off getting an x1950pro and enjoy spending the change. :)

Are these Compatible with DX10?

They are DX9 cards so no, however most games produced for the foreseeable future will have DX9 compatability. There are a couple that don't (Halo 3?) but it is a pretty minor amount currently and is unlikely to change hugely soon.

What are you upgrading from? The 7600GT is a bit faster than a 6800ultra but not astonishingly so. :)

7600GT for 80~, 1950Pro for 110~. They're your two best AGP options atm.

Halo2 will be DX10 only but that's an appalling effort on microsofts part to push Vista on people. It has no features that I can see that require DX9 nevermind DX10. It runs with slightly lower textures on an Xbox with what? DX7??

Seriously puts microsoft and bungie in a bad light.

yes time for an upgrade... if you want to stick with AGP and have the cash get the ATI card, very good performance at the price easily beats 7600.
But maybe you should wait too see what AGP card comes out in the 8600 bracket

I went from a 5700LE to a 7600GT on my 2nd PC and was very impressed, not a bad card at all for the money.

Enjoy.

x1950pro surely guys, much better!

Just avoid the HIS model :P

But then again the x1950xt in AGP is the fastest sooooooo depending on how much you want to spend id take one of these two!

It is better but going by the OcUK website in the UK it is anywhere between £40 and £60 more expensive, I don't know what the prices in Australia are like though. Realistically though going from an FX5500 anything is going to be a big jump so a 7600GT isn't a bad choice by any means. :)

I thought they might although I might not have put it so graphically. :p It is rather odd considering Australias proximity to major computer part manufacturing centres that you get so shafted on pricing.

I dont know why TBH :(

Its not like we even have any PC component companys to protect down here so they cant be taxing the things.

Im just ubnsure why PC parts are so expensive :(
