Pretty much cope with any day-to-day situation with that list. I normally carry mu backpack pretty much anywhere I go too, which always has at least 2 books, more things to make me smell nice and two changes of socks & underwear. I am always prepared.

Very surprised so far that only one person carries a penknife/multitool (i.e. SAK or Leatherman type). My USB is normally in a small pouch with a v.small multi-tool, except when I'll be flying. Even together they are not much larger than a Zippo but a darn sight more useful.
