What's onboard sound like these days?

I'm thinking of moving to a SFF PC, and currently I've got an Audigy 4 for my sound. The PC is for office, films, and casual gaming, so nothing too bad. The only benefit when I got my Audigy was performance compared to the onboard sound - is this still true, or will my FPS not suffer if I stick to onboard on a new S775 mATX system?

There's no real performance difference these days. Modern onboard sounds better than AC97 of old by a big amount. I'd try the onboard and the Audigy and see what you prefer.
