Whats out there for point and shoots?

hey guys, im a camera noob (not a tech noob though so bare that in mind =P ) and im looking at picking up a point and shoot camera.

i have noooo idea whats out there what the low med high end prices are.

Basically im asking for a run down of whats good whats not, prices and recomendations =) (if theres a sticky feel free to delete and redirect me! )

What budget have you got?
What are you wanting to use the camera for?

sorry completely forgot to list my specs lol.

price £100-£150 but its flexible so its not to much of a limit.

Uses, nights out, holiday stuff (think beaches, snowboarding, or city pics), internal house shots so fairly standard stuff.

I had a play with a Samsung WB500 the other day that was pretty nice... Go for around £140 after a quick Google search
