about 5 to ten minutes. 5 minutes for one pass. and a further 5 for the second pass. i go with the grain, then against the grain. sorted.

Merkur Slant is the one I've got, it was a steep learning curve but is absolutely brilliant with Derby blades.

I got my boyfriend a Merkur for Christmas 2009, still looks just as swish as the day I bought it him. Blades are really cheap too.

Lots of Merkus razers to choose from, what is the main difference and is there one that is highly recommended?

34c for DE razor nubs, 38c is a longer handle version. It is a well weighted razor with a good grip on the pommel. Meerkat Slantbar is you want a very aggressive shave, recommended for more advanced users.
