Whats the best brand of laptop

Sorry if i have posted in the wrong place please move if i have. I am looking to spend between £1000 -£1800 just wonder what was the best brand for a laptop sorry again if im not aloud to ask this many thanks :)
 
Worthing! Hah, gutted :p

I have an Acer, and when I was at college my mates did too. They're awesome. The only reason you hear a reasonable amount of complaints is because they're so popular, obviously with more users you're gonna get more complaints.

I've also heard that "Rock" are a good brand laptop manufacturer.

BTW, you weren't in CheckM8 clan by any chance were you..?
 
Oh dear lol a worthington on the boards we are very rare my friend :D i'll be moving soon, i live in tarring where abouts do you live then ps thanks for the advise i'll check it out ;)
 
Im sick of upgrading my computer in the past three years ive clocked just under £4000 :( so im getting a laptop and going back to consoles :eek: lol.

I find HP are great.
The battery life is superb.

As said, IBM is also great.


Acer is good for decent spec & low price, but build quality is pretty poor.

I have to say aswell, Sony Vaio are built very well also.


For that budget, i'd have a look at HP & Sony Vaio.

Zepto & Rock (as mentioned) are also apparently very reliable. Although i have had no experience with them.
 
Buying a desktop to save money because upgrading desktop doesn't quite make sense. A desktop is cheaper in the first place for a lower specced machine.

And when you decide to upgrade it's cheaper again too. Do you need portability of a laptop?

I've had a laptop and a desktop, and used the laptop as a DTR and it doesn't do the job half as well.
 
IBM is the only choice here :D
Lol at the guy who suggested Vaio's are well built :p - I still remember the model (Top of the range about 2 yrs ago) where there was no backplate to the PCMCIA slots. This basically meant that the PCMCIA slots pins were wrenched straight out of the mobo as cards were taken in and out. Never seen a more ludicrous peice of design.

I want a laptop to conserve space and so i can use it on the go i want a high spec laptop because i wont be upgrading for a long time i used my pc for everything but mostly for gamnig mostly hence the expensive upgrades so now im going back to console world :D.

They are, the 15.4" ones are well built. Smaller ones do become very tinny yes, but overall i still think they are well built compared to some.

They are good, no doubt but you are paying for the name and the snazzy casing.
Rock are similar specs (if not better) for cheaper & more for the money.

I specced one up a second ago with:

2.16ghz C2D
2GB RAM
160GB HDD
512MB 7950 GTX
17" Monitor

Thats the idea of what you can get as a desktop replacement.
