Whats the best out of these two???

I can get a X1800 XT 512mb or a X1950 pro 256mb graphics card for the same price of a well known auction site and I was wondering which would be the best option to go for both pci express and would be used to game at 1280x1024.

Its a Powercolour X1800xt and an Connect3d X1950pro

It is an upgrade for my brother as he has currently got an X800XT

Any opinions on which he should go for?

If the powers not an issue then may as well get the x1800 seen as its got an extra 256mb Ram.

If he likes a lot of AA & AF then i gues he would see a difference.

The X1950 Pro has it in 3DMark06 and a couple of other titles, but on the whole the X1800XT is faster.

As said, if power consumption is not an issue, then I'd opt for the X1800XT.

well, in your case of reasoning then x1950pro should be twice as fast as the x1800 which has 16 pipes.

remember the x1950 has fixed function shaders. they are not stream processors. they cheapo alternatives
