About £10, i only bet on Euros & World Cup to add to the fun and it's normally only like £3-5.

Many years ago me & the wife put £6 on a horse, the guy in betfred put the wrong amount in the card machine though & tried taking £60k which got declined.

I did the same numbers every week, (my D.O.B. and my wife’s), until the Wednesday draw was introduced, then did those numbers twice per week, around 3 years later I won £1900, was I doing it wrong?
I carried on with the same numbers and years later I still haven’t won more than £48 since the £1900, now that I know that it’s a scam, should I stop?
FWIW I can afford the weekly layout.

Not sure if it was my biggest bet, but my biggest losing bet was £4k on Villa to beat Millwall in the FA Cup. Had a similar amount on Arsenal to win at Montpellier in the Champions League which won, can't remember the exact stake.

And regular gambling isn't? Both are a stealth tax on the poor.
Lottery and 'Regular Gambling' have some significant differences:

1) The odds on the lottery are absolutely atrocious, with approx 45% (last time I checked) of stake being paid back in prizes. That's utterly abysmal compared to the typical sportsbook or casino games.
2) There is no skill element involved because all outcomes have an equal probability with no variables that can influence that. With sports gambling, one can make judgements as to the relative probability of an event.

Neither falls into the category of stealth tax because you are under no obligation to do them. Stealth taxes are things like NIC and waste collection charges.

How can NIC be a stealth tax when it's an official tax? A stealth tax isn't recognized as a tax but the effect is the same. Of course nobody is forced to gamble or play the lottery, but the vast majority of the revenue comes from people that can least afford it.

Probably <£30 on a raffle type things where you can win a car etc. However I've got some long term money invested/bet in Crypto which is around 50% up so far in 6-ish months and has a chance of either going to the moon within the next year or two (XRP, waiting on a court case) or completely crashing to effectively nothing.

I’m not a betting person. In 2010, I put £12.50 e/w on both Don’t Push It and Black Alapachi for the Grand National. This bookie website (can’t remember which) had them both at 14/1 where some had them 10/1 and 12/1 respectively. They came first and second and won £253.

Most won on a lottery draw - £228 on lottery with four numbers. I did win £250 on the Christmas lottery draws they did back in the early days costing £5 a line.
Most I won on a scratchcard- £250 on a £3 one. Online scratchcard £1000 on a £5 one.

Not me personally but one of my colleagues dropped a lot of money on bets on the Euros including thousands on France to win... lost every single one. Was not a happy person.
