whats the most serious illness/health problem you've had

I cut my head open when I was seven by falling in to the corner of a wall, Ten stitches. I asked the surgeon if he could see my brain (as after the hysteria of the local anaesthetic I was quite perky) and he said yes, my mum nearly fainted, it was hilarious.

At the moment I suffer from achilles bursitis(sp). Not life threatening, but painful as hell :(

Wow, are you a big guy? That's a pretty high dose!

75mg is the starting dose for Venlafaxine. I don't know the specifics but the doses should sound higher when compared with other antidepressants. I've been on 150mg for several years. 225mg is the maximum recommended dose.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and nephrosclerosis together with my diabetes means my kidneys will be done within 4-6 years thats my most serious long term.

Short term I had a bout of viral pneumonia in Canada so bad I was in hospital for a week pumped full of everything and quarantined and nearly died twice :(

I have a pillbox like an old man on 7 tablets and a injection a day lol

Nothing serious, more just annoying, but I get Tinnitus which comes and goes, I'm thankful I don't get it all time time like some people, but when it comes its bye bye to any sleep that night.

Hole in the heart which is closing slowleeeey
beaten up by spanish chavs and cracked 2 ribs
hit by a car 2 years after chav incident and cracked same two ribs.

fun times.

Shingles
Flu
Tonsillitis

Had two eye operations at age three to correct squints, they left my left eye usable and right really poor. Cannot ever drive because of it...

Even with my good eye I cannot read the numberplate at the required distance.

Not short sighted or long sighted, this is nothing that can be corrected with lenses.

i honestly thought i was the only one :P well ok maybe not...

my left eye is very strong, right eye very weak, and due to it i can "choose" which eye i look out of. i can drive apparently although my depth perception can be a little bit "of" sometimes. i find going from looking at something close to far away is quite hard but i can cope with it, had to wear a patch when i was younger for about a year. thinking of having laser to make my left eye as good as it can be.

I had this when I was 15. I had Viral Encephalitis, if that makes any difference.

I haven't noticed too much of a change. I do swear a lot more than I used to, but then they said that this could be one of the knock-on effects of having it.

As a result I don't actually remember a lot of it, and was in hospital about 6 weeks I think.

Not nice.
Yep it's pretty much the same. In Oct2009 I had what was possibly the worst flu I've ever had and it went on for a month until I realised my antiboitics weren't really doing anything.

Then came the head pains and change of character, which alerted me to it being more than just a flu. That was when I had the CT scan. The swearing is a knock on effect, and part of the whole 'change of character' thing. Apparently is is common.

I had squint operation when I was younger and I'm sure my depth perception is still a bit off. I've always had one eye much stronger than the other. Like you I'd chose which eye to look out of (mostly just use the stronger one). It wasnt quite as bad as yours though- I can drive with glasses. Its started to even out now i'm older (30) so the strong one is getting weaker and the weak eye stronger.

Was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when young and just recently been diagnosed as depressed but found no medication that works, currently on Mitazapine, tried fluoxitine, citolopram as well but that led me to being very ill.

Ive been lucky to not have been through much
