Might be looking at getting a new board. Would go for a P35 i guess as cannot afford ddr3 mem, although i would have to get mem and cpu as still on 939 currently.

What i would like to know is the difference between some of the types. I see that Asus has a few different p5k ones, some with e some with ew etc. Which one do people go for?
Also the Gigabyte ones? which one?

As for clocking, i am not the greatest clocker in the world, i have a dabble from time to time, but generally just get a nice stable system and thats fast enough:p

If i go down the route of a new mobo, then i would need cpu and ram for around the 300 quid mark, any suggestions?

Cheers

Thanks, looks good to me. Heard these boards are pretty good, like i said, just never knew which one to go for :D

thats pretty much what my spec is except im going for a quad core next month. you should also be able to get a nice overclock on that CPU but even at stock speeds its no slouch.

the abits & Gigabytes are good & basically which you get depends upon features & budget required.
Atm the P35-DS3P for £88 is probably the sweet spot where you get most of the features that you might want.

Cool thanks, just out of interest though, what's the difference between the Asus boards? Like is the Asus P5K-E any good?

I use this board with 2x2gb OCZ pc5300, 8800GTX and Q6600 overclocked to 3ghz and @ stock volts!

Probably been my favourite board... certainly my favourite C2D/C2Q board by miles.

The Gigabyte GA P35 DS3P is a very nice board, stable and easy to overclock, also some nice features on it, excellent value at £86....:)

quite a bit - the DS3P is based on the same PCB as the DS4/DQ6 so it's full width (DS3R is cutdown) & has a 2nd physical x16 (electrically x4) slot for starters plus it has firewire.
For the same price as on OcUK it's imo a no-brainer.

Ended up going for this in the end.
