What's your reccomended ISP?

Zen, been with them for 3-4 years very good tech support that don't just read from a script and very very reliable connection.

Avoid BT if possible. They are getting worse as the senior managers do not have a clue & oversell products like Infinity which then impacts the entire network for everyone.

Their FUD is a joke as is the way they measure it (rounding up to the next Mb!!).

If they were broken up like they should be BT as we know it would go bust very quickly as they are not run like a proper business but as they are too big to fail the current gov whoever they are will always step in & safeguard the jobs they give to Indian IT based companies

There's always one! This thread specifically asked for people recommending ISPs with good stories not moaning about them....

Personally currently with o2 (or Be, same company. Only went the o2 way bacuase of my phone getting me £5 a month off) on their Annex M package. Absolutely faultless so far. The only downtimes I've had was bungling BT engineers un-jumpering things they shouldn't in my green box. I can't really hold o2 accountable for that, even so they did still give me that month free because I was unable to access thier service. Which both unexpected and pleasent :)

Back in the day I was with Demon. Who at the time were great, gone downhill since and their residential side of operations sunk to the level of their business side. Though going to 512k ADSL with them from Freeserve (later to become Wannadoo) Dialup anything would have seemed revolutionary.

Telewest/Blueyonder, before NTL and then Virgin absorbed and ruined them. :p

This :( Although most of the people in charge at Virgin now are from the Telewest/Blueyonder branch? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sky Unlimited.

No complaints at all from me so far. Never a problem since signed up, always stable and reliable connection.

But now this :)

I don't think they are as VM couldn't be run much more badly than it currenly is. They seem happy to sign people up without having the structure to actually supply their internet properly and when you complain you get pushed around until you give up.

I don't get VM where I am but i've watched it happen to a friend of mine. In the end there was a mass protest at the VM shop in his city centre and police were called. I don't agree with threatening shop staff but these people were desperate and couldn't get anywhere on the phone.

I'd probably go with them if they set up here but only because I know the contention would be low. If I was still in Exeter I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole - my Mum's with them and she gets the full 10MBit she pays for but then she's extremely low usage.

I have been with ADSL24 on their Cable&wireless LLU service, completely unlimited / unmanaged and 1 month rolling contract, its been superb. I have just swapped to VM 50mb but not connected yet, fingers crossed I will be singing their praises too.

I was on Blueyonder/Telewest from the Cableinet dial up days up until about a year after the Virgin re-brand. The service just went downhill really quickly from there for me. From a perfectly stable connection to a connection which barely worked.

Modems got replaced, support got called but nothing really changed & if it did within a week it would be rubbish again at one point they wanted me to wait a month for another modem to be sent.

In the end I just decided enough was enough & got Sky unlimited.

I remember reading somewhere though that the Blueyonder team was in charge of the broadband.

Sky, l know we have seen one or two posts about Sky Customer Service being carp, but had a connection problem kept dropping. Took a little while to sort out but Sky got there in the end > 2nd Engineer found that my terminal connection at the telegraph was faulty, repaired no probs at all now.

Nice one Sky Customer Service, can't wait for Sky 40MB. ;)

AAISP (Andrews & Arnold), been with them for about a year now and a real quality outfit, service very reliable and support (when needed) is off a high quality, ie. no faffing about...

I've been with cable for years, first it was telewest/blueyonder, cableinet dialup before then. Totally awesome service, excellent speeds and pings. Then virgin took over and it went south fast. I've just arranged for sky unlimited to be installed after 3 1/2 years of sub par virgin media, can't wait for the change though it'll be my first foray into adsl. :)

Been with Eclipse for the last 9 years and overall they've been good.

Still on an older package that has pretty much no restrictions on bandwith usage, and whilst there have been a few outages over the years overall it's been good service.
